The Copy – Paste Culture amongst students (For Communication Media Subject)

Assignments? Hit it off with Google. See, that’s the problem of people nowadays especially students. When the deadline comes you will use all your power to pass it. And yes, as a student I may sound hypocrite if I didn’t admit that I myself have done this.

Using modern technology and easy access through the cyber web we are all encouraged, no, we are programmed that if we want to know something or if we want to have an easy task we just have to hit the web, google it, search for anything and copy – paste it to the Microsoft Word. Even though there is an act or law regarding in copying and posting other works may it be professional or amateur this is really happening and reality is few people are capable of applying it in their lives that plagiarism is indeed a crime.

Last year 2012, a senator made a speech of his will against the controversial RH Bill which is now officially became a law. He states that he, personally, dislike the bill to become a law and he deliver his speech that shocks the country. He was cyber bullied and accuse by the social web that he plagiarizes his speech by simply copying it to a social blogger named Sarah Pope and to the late US Senator Robert Kennedy.

This news made him the number one and worldwide trend in the social media site Twitter. Although his staff admits the copying of Sarah Pope’s blog he apologize to the Kennedy family but denies plagiarism.

This is an act and truth that people nowadays has the ability and the power to control things not only with students but with adults as well.

Students finds it that the web is the shortest and the best way to solve their worst problems for searching and copy-pasting is as easy as a 6 year old child can do and doing that it will only take less time to do other things they want to do. And speaking of worst it is assignments, projects and other academic affairs that their teachers or mentors ask them to do a research for.

Admit it, as a student your mentor or teacher ask you to do a research or an essay about something you have learned in today’s lesson so at home you remember your assignment and as a good student you will do your assignment in order to pass but the sad thing is you want to interact with your facebook friends, twitter followers and see what’s in trend right now so you hit it off with google, type your worst nightmare “blah blah blah” and the answers right there in front of your eyes and when it appears, hit right mouse click search for copy, open an ms word then paste it. Easy task isn’t it? But what lies here is that this is the real example that yes, internet is helpful, educational and easy access communication but internet creates a global problem despite of maturity content. They teach students to be lazy, to copy and to forget their own identity. Internet swallows one’s personal being and creating a world problem culture, the Copy – Paste Culture.

The copy paste culture is very much popular to teens especially students who wants to spend most of their time with friends, in the mall, in the pool, in the cinemas, in parks, with their boyfriends/girlfriends who wants to have an easy life? We all do, right? But despite this, young people tends to forget that copying is bad.

Well, I don’t want to be called by Ms. Cherry Gil that I am a copy cat [Joking]

Hey just wanted to give you a quick heads up.
The text in your post seem to be running off the screen in Chrome.
I’m not sure if this is a format issue or something to do with web browser compatibility but I thought I’d
post to let you know. The design and style look great though!
Hope you get the issue resolved soon. Thanks

      Hello.

Thanks for noticing but I really chose not to change the height and color of the texts. But does my article seems a bit hard to read when the texts and font is like that?

It’s really okay to give me an honest opinion. Happy to read your comment though 🙂
